Every hire is fully-comp insured. The excess reduction is optional and worth it if you're new to a vehicle this size — Highland roads are narrow and one clipped mirror is enough to eat the excess. It's cheap peace of mind.

Route advice for guests based near Tobermory

Route-wise, my honest advice for guests routing back to Tobermory: don't try to do the full NC500 in five days. It's a wonderful road but it punishes tight itineraries. Take a week, add two days, or shorten it — the Highlands are better savoured than sprinted. Scotland's coast has plenty of week-length loops that finish you back near home without the panic.

If you're on the fence, come and see the van. Perth is a comfortable drive from Tobermory and I'd rather you looked round for twenty minutes than book blind. It's the surest way to know whether motorhome touring is really for you before you commit a deposit.
