Motorhome hire near Lochinver isn't complicated when someone honest walks you through it. Our fleet lives in Perth, but the vast majority of our guests start their trip somewhere else in Scotland or the north of England, and Lochinver sits comfortably inside our regular pick-up radius.

Lochinver sits in a genuinely lucky spot for motorhome touring in Scotland. Loch, glen or coast — most of what people come to Scotland for is inside a comfortable day's driving from where you'll collect the van, and we'll happily plot the first two nights for you before you set off.

Handover takes an hour, sometimes ninety minutes, and I won't rush it. You'll drive the van around our yard before you leave, set up the awning, connect the hook-up, and light the hob, so nothing on your first night is a surprise. Guests from further afield sometimes stay in a local B&B the night before and collect fresh in the morning — I'll happily book them in with someone I trust.

2026 pricing (what it costs, what's included)

We publish real prices. £495 low season, £795 mid, £1,295 peak — one number covers the van, the kit, the insurance, the mileage and the handover. If someone quotes you dramatically less, ask them what's not included; it's usually bedding, gas, insurance excess reduction, and the extra hour on handover, and those four line items add up fast.

You're covered on our fully-comp policy from the second you drive off the yard. Ask about excess-reduction if you want the excess brought down; it's an add-on rather than a hidden compulsory fee.

Route advice for guests based near Lochinver

Route-wise, my honest advice for guests routing back to Lochinver: don't try to do the full NC500 in five days. It's a wonderful road but it punishes tight itineraries. Take a week, add two days, or shorten it — the Highlands are better savoured than sprinted. Scotland's coast has plenty of week-length loops that finish you back near home without the panic.

If you're on the fence, come and see the van. Perth is a comfortable drive from Lochinver and I'd rather you looked round for twenty minutes than book blind. It's the surest way to know whether motorhome touring is really for you before you commit a deposit.
