Edinburgh sits in a genuinely lucky spot for motorhome touring in Scotland. Loch, glen or coast — most of what people come to Scotland for is inside a comfortable day's driving from where you'll collect the van, and we'll happily plot the first two nights for you before you set off.

The handover is the difference between a great week and a stressful one. We walk through the tech, the plumbing, the gas isolator, the levelling ramps, and the review-mirror blind spots. If you've never driven anything wider than a Golf, we'll take you out on a quiet loop until you're comfortable — no charge, no clock.

2026 pricing (what it costs, what's included)

We publish real prices. £495 low season, £795 mid, £1,295 peak — one number covers the van, the kit, the insurance, the mileage and the handover. If someone quotes you dramatically less, ask them what's not included; it's usually bedding, gas, insurance excess reduction, and the extra hour on handover, and those four line items add up fast.

Insurance is fully-comp with a £750 standard excess. You can reduce that to zero on the day for a small daily fee, and I'd recommend it for first-time hirers — not because I expect anything to go wrong, but because a low-speed scrape on a single-track passing place shouldn't cost you your deposit and your good mood.

Route advice for guests based near Edinburgh

A lot of our best trips are the "boring" ones — three or four nights, one or two campsites, a lot of walking, an early pub dinner. If you're coming from Edinburgh, don't feel you have to earn the trip by clocking miles. The van earns its keep sitting still with a view, too.

If you're on the fence, come and see the van. Perth is a comfortable drive from Edinburgh and I'd rather you looked round for twenty minutes than book blind. It's the surest way to know whether motorhome touring is really for you before you commit a deposit.
