Touring Caravan Hire Dumfries | From £195/Week | Scotland | Caledonian Tourers

Touring caravan hire in Dumfries, Scotland. Site delivery or DIY tow, awnings and kit included from £195/week. Free tow-car matching.

I get calls from Dumfries most weeks — sometimes a family working out whether hiring beats buying, sometimes a retired couple who've finally decided this is the year. Whatever brings you to look at campervan hire from Dumfries, my job is to make sure you leave with the right van and a plan you can actually enjoy.

What campervan hire from Dumfries actually looks like

Guests from Dumfries usually plan a loop rather than a straight line, and we'll help you build one. Whether it's the North Coast 500, a west-coast whisky run, or a slower drift through Scotland, the geography's on your side. Bring the postcode of where you're staying and we'll factor the transfer into your handover time.

The handover is the difference between a great week and a stressful one. We walk through the tech, the plumbing, the gas isolator, the levelling ramps, and the review-mirror blind spots. If you've never driven anything wider than a Golf, we'll take you out on a quiet loop until you're comfortable — no charge, no clock.

2026 pricing (what it costs, what's included)

Our 2026 price freeze runs the season out at last year's numbers — low season from £495 a week, mid-season around £795, and peak (school holidays and the Highland shoulder) £1,195 to £1,295. That's fully inclusive: bedding, kitchen kit, gas, awning, chairs and the mileage you'd actually use in a week. No fake-cheap headline followed by a £300 "cleaning fee" on the way back.

Every hire is fully-comp insured. The excess reduction is optional and worth it if you're new to a vehicle this size — Highland roads are narrow and one clipped mirror is enough to eat the excess. It's cheap peace of mind.

Route advice for guests based near Dumfries

If it's your first trip, I always suggest a shorter loop — Perthshire, Argyll and back — before you commit to a full Highland circuit. It gets you used to the van, and it means you're not doing a 200-mile day on the tail end of a tiring week. Scotland makes a first motorhome week easy in a way that the far north-west doesn't.

If you're on the fence, come and see the van. Perth is a comfortable drive from Dumfries and I'd rather you looked round for twenty minutes than book blind. It's the surest way to know whether motorhome touring is really for you before you commit a deposit.
